Acetate positives arrived today for some new screen prints I’m working on
Silkscreen positives, for some up and coming prints in the works, just arrived today in the post. It’s always exciting to receive these and view the monochrome versions of what normally turn out colourful.
I ordered some A0 positives for screen printing, with lots of differnet layers to be cut down. The main order was for a new architectural print. I had some left over space on the acetate sheets, so I added some abstarct designs to freestyle with coloure at the studio.
The layers of acetate get more hazy the further down they go. Like landscapes with mountains, the further away things are the lighter they are in coloure.
I really like the overlap of the acetate sheets. Before computers, a lot of creative graphics were designed with physical layers like these for layout and composition. We did a lot of typography and poster layouts like this at LCC (London College of Printing). Its a really fun way to work.
